Eligibility
- Be registered with the Housing NSW Pathways if in the lower income category
- Have completed a standard Housing Application Form and be on the CENSW Referral Register
- Be a citizen or have permanent residency in Australia
- Be a resident in New South Wales (NSW)
- Not have any assets or property, which would reasonably be expected to resolve their housing need
- A person entering into a tenancy agreement must be generally 18 years or older
In addition to these requirements, to join a Co-operative you will also need to:
- Have household income within the income eligibility limits and fit within the 65% low and moderate and/or 35% affordable rental income mix of the Co-operative
- Demonstrate skills and understanding of the Co-operative model and a willingness and ability to actively participate
- Be a member of the Co-operative identified target group (where applicable)
- Demonstrate desire to live in the dwelling type and location offered
- Be aware of the responsibilities of Co-operative membership including the requirements, capacity and willingness to contribute to the Co-operative, and regular attendance at General Meetings
- Be willing to attend training and education workshops for Co-operatives
As stated in the Housing NSW Eligibility and Access Policy, exceptions may be made in certain circumstances such as family breakdown, the need to relocate to a new area because the applicant requires long term medical treatment which is not available where they reside, or escaping domestic violence, serious harassment or threats of violence.
